Welcome

I have a calling. In my opinion, I think it's one of the most difficult and time consuming callings out there...okay, besides the big wig callings. There is always a demand for coming up with ideas for activities, projects and even lessons AND it's not like you can just make something simple and call it good. NO! Young Women's has to be cute and fun and colorful full of handouts and treats and ribbon and pink stuff. For those of you that don't know me, I'm not your pink slash cute kind of girl. In fact, if it were up to me, we'd be playing Volleyball in the gym every Wednesday night with a special treat of plastic water bottles. I know, I'm sort of lame like that. Since it's not all up to me and this is just the "standard" that has been set for time and all eternity, I have to try...and try I do.

The thing that frustrates me the most is how I can't ever remember the activities that I did growing up so that I can apply those lessons and ideas as a reference in my calling today. As much as I try to dig deep inside my brain, it fails on me every time and I can't remember very much. Enter "We are Daughters...". I thought it would be a fun and great idea to make [yet another] blog where I can share ideas of activities, lesson helps and more for those that struggle as much as I do.

I know it will be a blessing to be able to look back on all these fun memories and inspiring moments with these wonderful and amazing girls. I hope that I may live up to my calling, inspire those around me and always do good so that I may further the building up of this one and only true gospel.

Stay tuned for more...

  1. Good idea Kimmy! I do have to say though, after having been in the YW Presidency out here in Iowa where we would get maybe one or two girls (if we were really lucky) to our activities and church each week, remember to be grateful that you have so many girls who are willing to participate, no matter what the activities are. They are blessed to have such an incredible support system out there in Utah where it is greatly lacking in other places.

I'm excited to see what kind of activities you come up with and post about!

  2. Okay so I was thinking about the comment I made and then the greatest YW activity idea hit me and I wish I would have thought of it while I was in the presidency...

Wouldn't it be cool to have Young Women from different wards in different states become pen pals? They could write their testimonies to each other and send cute little gospel-themed care packages every few months or so. I think that'd be so much fun to have them get to know other YW outside of their own ward or stake or school district and know that the YW values are applied all over the world. Anyway, just a thought...
